Trying to play The Bard's Tale and everytime I fire it up it sort of dissipears. Calling up taksmanager has it listed under background tasks, rather than apps.

I have tried everthing that I can think of: rolling back versions, disabling everyting except for my security software etc. But it keeps going to background tasks, where it is unplayable.

Having the same problem any new on how to fix it?

Running The Bards Tale 2005 from Win10x64, version 1709, build 17093.1000, without a problem.

Have you guys tried setting the compatibility mode to WinXP (Service Pack 3)? I noticed my game exe was set to run in that compatibility mode--but I have no other compatibility modes set. AMD R5 1600 CPU/AMD RX-480 8GB/Adrenalin drivers 18.2.1.

Changing the compatibility like waltc suggested worked for me.
