So I just recently obtained Bard's Tale Trilogy and loving it. I never played the games from the 80's though I did play first person dungeon crawlers growing up and loved them. Playing this game tho, makes me wonder how the remaster of the original Wasteland went. I'd love to give it a try if anyone has played both of these games and can give an honest assessment of their time with the game. I tend to not read a lot of reviews any more as so many are just polar extremes either 5 stars or 1 star with some of the most outrageously extreme criticisms / compliments given and I feel people don't understand how jarring that style of reviewing is, regardless of how common it is these days. Anyhow, thanks for your time!

The Wasteland remaster is pretty faithful to the original but in a good way. I haven't gotten super far into the remaster, but the initial part at least, is worth playing.
You will not be able to reset the world and play aganin with the same party, like you could in DOS version (and the DOS based "enhanced"edition: Wasteland 1 The Original Classic)
Bard's Tale Trilogy was redone entirely by Krome™:

Krome Studios did the work--and it was very extensive--excellent, I thought. The three games never were actually a "trilogy" and each game was released years apart--versions for DOS, AppleIIGS, the Amiga, C64, etc. But now they are indeed a trilogy. Much, much better than the original versions, imo, as you'd hope and expect thirty years later.

AFAIK, KROME STUDIOS™ had nothing at all to do with the Wasteland "remaster," and from what I've read--see the GOG store page--it shows.

They worked on it please have a look at the game page:

Still Bard's Tale Trilogy received much better after release support than Wasteland's remake.

.....I don't recall saying anything about Wasteland...;)

They (inXile) subbed the BT trilogy out to Krome--it was originally part of the BTIV Kickstarter. The company they hired to do the trilogy originally--Olde Skuul, or something--backed out because they couldn't do it--inXile went to Krome for the trilogy and it surpassed everyone's expectations--probably inXile's, too...;) KROME did a masterful job on those games.
