I started BTIII from scratch (new game) - I'm lost... Where do you find a temple to heal? How about spell points...Roscoe's

I have seen walk troughs but they seem to be from people importing characters over...

I couldn't stand BTII so I figured I would try III.

There is a temple in the wilderness that will heal you, for the usual fee of course.

For restoring SP:
* While outside in sunlight, your SP will gradually recover. Unless you're playing the remaster, this recovery is going to be quite slow, so it's not really feasible past the beginning of the game.
* If you have a Bard, playing the Rhyme of Duotime. In classic versions, this will allow you to regenerate SP anywhere (albeit still slowly); this stacks with the regeneration for being in sunlight. In the remaster, this doubles SP regen, and therefore only works if you're regenerating SP to begin with, but can be very useful when combined with other effects.
* Some items with regenerate SP while equipped. Slow (except in the remaster), but always active, and will even give you SP each round during combat. (You might remember the Mage Staff from BT1 if you've played it; that's one item of this type, but in BT3 there are more such items.)
* There are squares in dungeons where your SP will regenerate. If you are not playing the remaster, however, this SP regen is so slow that it's hard to notice and isn't really practical. If you *are* playing the remaster, on the other hand, these squares work really fast; you can add SP regen items and the Rhyme of Duotime to make this go even faster. In fact, this SP regen is so fast in the remaster that you can actually do without Harmonic Gems.
* There is a single use item called the Harmonic Gem, which when used will restore the user's SP fully. While they do not drop in the wilderness or in Skara Brae, they will drop in all dungeons and in other dimensions, and unless you're playing the DOS or Amiga version, they are incredibly common (too common, in fact, to the point where I can't use up my SP fast enough to avoid using them). (Oh, and if you're playing the DOS or Amiga version, STOP right now, and find another version, or at least find the patch for the DOS version; these versions have way too many issues and just aren't that fun because of them.)
* Also, at certain points (usually when you just completed a world, but also the first time you go to the Review Board), the old man will restore everyone's SP to full.

This is very helpful. Thank you!

Just a point of clarification - in Skara Brae I am finding tons of Harmonic Gems.

I don't remember finding any on the Skara Brae surface, but I *do* remember finding a lot of them in the dungeons, even the very first dungeon.

Since you are finding Harmonic Gems, don't be afraid to use them. Many players, often times, like to hoard their consumables, but BT3's Harmonic Gems are so common that, if you never use them, you're going to run out of inventory space to quickly.
