It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

1. No modding. You need the steam version to have access to the "free mod DLC" which will install the uncompiled asset files.
2. Again the game is for months without a patch steam has for a long time.

I don't care if this is the fault of stoic (the developer, I guess the name is an omen) or gog. My money was wasted here.
I think this should be called: "Why you shouldn't buy this at ALL"
The patch just landed on GOG a couple of days ago. 2 months after Steam. I think we shouldn't support a developer at all when they're happy to take GOG customers money while not providing support for their product here. Buying stuff from them elsewhere is just encouraging this kind of behaviour. Only thing that works is not buying it at all.
Stoic is not a frriend of GOG. To see Banner Saga on GOG it took a lot of persuasion from the fans.
I would have probably never bought Banner Saga 1 if it wasn't right there and then on GOG. It was an 'impulse buy'. Now I'm not gonna buy BS3 at all.
Greetings - just stopping by to let you know that we'll be pushing updates to both Banner Saga and Banner Saga 2 as soon as we have finished the work. Updating games on GOG is a substantial download, not incremental like on other platforms, so we would rather do things all at one time, rather than push a bunch of small updates.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thank you. :)

I remember, that I was "shocked" when the Banner Saga 2 release took place on steam, but not on GOG. Rumor had it, Stoic was afraid of pirate-copies due to a drm-free release. Apparently only few days after the steamrelease, there was a steam-pirate-copy. I am not 100% sure about this, but I contacted them saying that if it would not be released on GOG I definitely wouldn't buy it somewhere else... and most likely they got several such messages, since it was released on GOG within a month's time.
Hopefully something like that is not necessary before the release of Part 3, although I would do it again ;)

Thanks for making an appearance. Hopefully Part 3 will make it here without a detour this time ^^

Say what you mean.

You're not avoiding submitting new versions to GOG because the download is too "substantial" for your customers. You're avoiding submitting new versions to GOG because you don't want to go through the trouble yourselves. Customers who get the latest updates late are second tier--simple as that.

I'm glad I read this. I'll be skipping your games on GOG and Steam.
It looks like Stoic wants to release part III on here. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stoic/banner-saga-3

Thanks for the heads up; pledged for 30$ since the series has been awesome so far.
I'm going to cancel my $100 backing on kickstarter for BS3 if they don't get us the new version of BS1 and/or 2! Right now you cannot import your save gave from 1 into 2 because of version mismatch.!
The update is live now - please grab the new version and let me know if it doesn't fix the import saved game issue. Thank you.
The June 22 Steam patch still hasn't made it to GOG I see.

No one should support these developers, through GOG or Steam. They don't value all of their customers equally, so none of their customers should value them.
