What about Linux version of the sequel?
I'm waiting for a port to buy it.

They won't port it, according to a recent statement by the developers:

So sad. I wanted to buy this = (
Yeah, I am also cross with them for withholding the Linux version from GOG. Makes you feel like a second class customer.

In principle, the game runs on Wine, but the performance has been very choppy for me on a moderately fast PC.

To be fair what they said was that they won't be porting it right now but would be leaving the door open if they ever have the resources. Not saying I am holding out a lot of hope but there is some. My money is waiting for them when they bring me my Linux version.

True, but for TBS1 they had promised a Linux version and even then delivered it a year late, so we might wait a while either way.

One would suppose that a Linux port of TBS2 was trivial when there is already a (from what I hear, decent) port of TBS1 available, which seems to use the same engine. Maybe they are afraid they couldn't provide support, being a small team with only one programmer.

Or maybe they doubt the economic viability of a Linux version because they did not see a significant amount of sales following the release of the Linux version because most of us had already bought the game and played it on Windows or Wine.

Both of your scenarios make sense and are plausible. Linux isn't as big of a money maker as Windows. All I can do is continue to support Linux games and hope more continue to get ported. In my opinion though I'd rather developers be porting games to Linux because they have a passion for the platform rather than money, usually means a higher quality job.
