Argh I'm really on the fence about this one. I like the idea and the genre, but I have a huge backlog of games (thanks, gog summer sale >.>). My #1 must get game was zeus+poseidon, and I can't even find time to play that. Gotta play HOMM3 too.

50% off sounds nice, so my question is, is this game anything special that stands out? Or is it just another good game.

I'm enjoying it, but its definitely different. It's listed as an RPG, but it seems closer to an Adventure game to me. Its sort of like playing a book (a choose your own adventure book I guess). Lots of fun unique things about, the combat can be challenging and the story is definitely unique.

The only thing I don't really like is that you play a handful of different characters, of which all are premade. So I don't feel the type of connection to them that I normally do, like in an Ultima or Baldur's Gate game.

Overall, its pretty fun though and it works really well on touchscreens (I'm playing in on my MS Surface Pro during my morning subway commute).

For the $13 it was, I think definitely worth it.

The Banner Saga is currently 70% off over the weekend so it's only $5.99 right now. At that price, I can definitely recommend it. I've only played it for a couple hours so far and what stands out most is the excellent 2D art style and animation. I also enjoy the air of uncertainty whenever one has to make important decisions in the game. One really starts to care about the people you're leading and making those decisions is quite a challenge but enjoyable if one goes with the flow and doesn't obsess about the consequences. Bad things can and will happen, you'll make mistakes and people will die but you find new people, and you just have to keep things together somehow and try to survive best as you can. Even the bad decisions can lead to interesting gameplay experiences.
