Has anybody else read it? It was written by the guy who wrote the actual game script so it's canon, and it basically has every scene in the game, but in the right chronological order, and it pretty much makes the entire game make so much more sense. Plus, there's a solid 6 chapters about Stauf's backstory and that of the 6 guests. It's pretty much a must-read for fans of the game.
I never knew this existed! I have the old strategy guide, and read the script dozens of times, but this will be even better because it's in chronological order. I'm going to order it on Amazon. Thanks for bringing this up!

No problem, make sure to let me know what you think. Definitely an awesome read.

I keep meaning to purchase the book, maybe now I can get myself to do so. Too bad GOG couldn't get a copy for a bonus for the 7th guest game. :P

Just finished it! It's a quick read. I really enjoyed it, it gives you a lot of insight into everyone's motivations and clears up the timeline (which is muddled by the rooms in-game). I'd recommend it to any 7th Guest fan. Stauf's headspace was particularly valuable to get into, as was the discussion on the true nature of Ego/the PC.
Honestly, I thought it was a bit of a mess, notwithstanding some of the better written portions. If it weren't for the Ego bits and the ending, this could have been a serviceable gothic tale; as it stands, the way that the Ego character is reduced to having next to no presence until the very end wrecks the narrative. Even then, the writing was a little painful here and there, particularly with the spelling errors. Not to mention the novel describes Stauf Mansion as having a layout differing drastically in places from what we see in the game, but the book is full of screenshots of the game that are advertised with the clear goal of fanservice; problem is that the images conflict directly with what is described in the book.

That's interesting (haven't finished the book yet) but my hardcover copy only has 2 screenshots in the whole thing, the doll room and the very top of the attic where Stauf was waiting.

Huh. That's weird, I seem to remember mine having more.
