Once you complete the game, you get special buttons that leads to a special "Open House" mode. Have you found them ?
If you still haven't manage to complete all puzzles (except the optional Microscope mini-game), we wanted to let you know there is a secret way to enable these anyway!
Both the original PC version way (without space) and the CD-i version way works in the 25th Anniversary Edition (from update 1.0.3 and up).

I got the Open House mode with the 'Badger' save. :) Was the microscope mini-game nerfed? Because I just played 7th Guest this year and that one had me tearing my hair out, and I only finished it using the online solver. I finished the 25th anniversary version of the mini-game on my first try.

I'm guessing they didn't change it so much as fix it.
My understanding is that in the original game when creating the AI algorithm for your opponent instead of allocating it a certain number of CPU CLOCK CYCLES to determine a move, they gave it a certain amount of TIME.

Obviously computing power now is many orders of magnitude higher than it was in the early 90s. This effectively meant that on newer machines that the opponent AI was operating like a Deep Blue supergenius that was practically impossible to beat, unless you used one of those online solvers that basically put your computer against itself.
