I'm about five hours in and really enjoying it so far. I didn't expect the humour to be as spot on as the originals but I was wrong, the game has made me laugh out loud at parts.

I'm really happy with the kickstarter too. I've read that there has been some miscommunication but I hadn't been following the updates recently. I'm really happy to have the game both on GOG and Steam, which surprised me. When I got my Steam key I figured it would have been nicer on GOG but no big deal and then later on get an email about the GOG key which was awesome.

Tesla Effect may very well be my favourite Tex Murphy game, I'll just have to wait and see but so far very promising.
Hey, have you arrived on day five yet? i am in the cathedral, so i find all the simbols and go inside the secret door. there i have to get into the headmaster's office, but a card is needed and i have no idez how to find it, and if i leave this place, and go back to the cathedral or somewhere else i cant go back...sorry if i spoiled, but i need to get thru it and keep playing!! thank you!
I love it, but I'm a bit annoyed with this sneaking-around-and-avoid-being-caught-by-the-guards puzzle (similar to the alien in Pandora, which I hated). If I wanted to do that I'd play Thief or Assasin's Creed or some game like that (at least in the latter you've got weapons to kill the guards). I don't think stuff like this should be in adventure games at all (at least it should be possible to bypass like most of the puzzles), but I bet I'm in the minority on that one.

I also came across an annoying bug in the "Egyptian tomb" puzzle. I aligned everything correctly (as per the hints), but the statues and symbols were offset by 2 for some reason. Eventually got around it by adjusting for the offset.

The scavenger puzzles are a bit weird as well, as Tex somehow knows how many cards/pieces/symbols etc. he's supposed to collect, and you can't use them on their target object unless you've got all of them. It kind of made sense with the ladder (which I haven't gotten to in the full game yet) since you can easily tell how many steps are missing, but not with the other ones so far.

Also, ladder climbing is slow and awkward.

Overall, though, it's all I ever wanted from a new Tex game.

Spoilers:

The card is in the storage room, beneath the robes.

Yeah there are a few things here and there that aren't perfect, the ladder animation is pretty terrible. All the problems I've encountered have thankfully been minor though. The whole stealth thing I thought was much worse in the previous games. In this game while it was unwanted it wasn't as much as a nuisance.

I like it a good bit, but it's definitely flawed.

For one thing I miss a ton of little tiny items that match color with the environment. If I had known that was going to be a frequent occurrence, I would have played on casual mode for the item twinkle, which I feel the game was designed around.

Also the story seems to make weird jumps sometimes. I noticed by checking out a few let's play videos that things happen in different order based on your decisions, which is neat, but I think that ends up making the game feel a little rough in the story flow and editing.

Overall though it's Tex Murphy as I remember him, and really well done.
In all paths the story should tie together nicely if you are still playing and have not finished yet. While different in their approach (the paths that is) they all make sense at the end, like a Stephen King novel. I think Aaron did a fantastic job writing this story... if you are interested in it in more detail he should be releasing his Novel which the game is based around soon.

I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, I'm saying the jumps and edits can be pretty rough. For example saying goodbye to someone, then the next scene is you hanging out with them somewhere else. Or hanging out with a person in one location and then the game awkwardly moves the two of you somewhere else in the middle of the scene, so that you can be in the right place for the next plot point.

It's not terrible but it can certainly feel a little awkward at times.
