I'm a linux user, so the neat little packaged .exe files, if I were to buy the game, are a pain in the butt.

Instead of using wine to run dosbox, I'd rather just have the original .iso files for PD and Overseer (dug out my old UAKM and saved ten bucks on that xD ) and dosbox it up myself, natively.

is that possible through GOG, or is a windowsified pre-packaged installer the only option?

if GOG can't help me out, can anybody provide the raw isos for either of the above mentioned games? It wouldn't be a crime, I've bought each of them already, a couple times where PD is concerned, lol, but you know, a decade and a half.

And I'm certainly going to pick up a copy of tesla effect. I'm so excited.

OMG IM SO EXCITED FOR TESLA EFFECT.

Yes, .exe-installer is the only option BUT they can be extracted with Innoextract.

I'm playing Pandora Directive in linux dosbox currently, and it works great :)

thank you Daliz! this is exactly the information I needed!

cheers!
ok...

how did you get pandora directive to work?

overseer wont run in dosbox so it's a while different beast, but just to make sure I was doing it right, i tried to get PD setup.

I ran innoextract on the gog setup exe file, and came up with a directory called app, and a directory called tmp.

all i got was what seemed a fresh install in the "app" directory, didnt seem to be any setup or install file, so i mounted the directory in dosbox, ran tex4 (the only exe file i saw in there), and got a no cd-rom detected error.

im so confused, I got pandora directive working before with just images that i ripped straight from the cds, and it worked like a charm, I also, just yesterday, got UAKM working from original install disks, and it worked like a charm. GOG seems to be a giant pain.

im installing winxp in a virtualbox to try and get them to work, but I hope it doesnt run like my old 386 used to
So I just set up windows xp in a virtual box, and tried the GOG Pandora Directive installer (the Overseer installer didn't work even in the VM).

It ran, and the movies work, but the mouse will not move from the outside of the screen.

I'm super frustrated, and just want the original installation media in iso format.

GOG, can u provide what I'm asking for if I pay???
I can't offer you details right now because I'm not at home, but I'll tell you what I remember. I didn't use, and haven't used Innoextract at all, I just remember it being mentioned many times in this forum.

I installed the game using PlayOnLinux, it has an install script for GOG version of PD (and a lot of other GOG games too - check it out). If you're lucky it works out of the box with POL for you, try it.

But since I had sound troubles using POL, I copied the whole PD directory out of the POL directory and just ran it with Dosbox without any of the POL stuff (thus POL didn't really do anything for me except extract the setup file - I thought you could use Innoextract for that). What I had to do was modify the dosbox conf file inside the PD directory, and run Dosbox using that conf-file. It's mostly just the paths you have to modify, they're at the end of the file. That fixes the CDROM not found error you told about.

Just make a backup of the original before modifying, it's really logical, a little puzzle of it's own before you can play :)

Edit. If you can't get it to work I could copy some of the conf-file for you, but you'd still have to alter the paths.

Managed to make it work with play on linux, pretty much the way you described. thanks for the input.

Now I'm just stuck trying to make overseer work.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten Overseer to run under Linux and I tried hard and long.
The only guide for Wine I know is the one at unofficialtexmurphy.com, which I can see you have already found – however that one didn't work for me either.

PlayOnLinux allows you to change Wine versions very easily - it's pretty much essential when trying to get games working in Wine IMO.

I haven't tried Overseer yet, but I probably will (against all odds lol), after I complete PD.
