I have the jacknife that Tex picked up in his office (on Day 1) when I am about to enter the Wasp Chamber. I get everything ready to tackle the wasps and then enter the room. I still have the jacknife but after the video plays of Tex toasting the wasps the jacknife is gone. Of course I need it to get the gunpowder from the bullets in the Ascension Chamber 2. I have replayed the wasp chamber several times and the jacknife goes missing everytime. Weird or what?
OK I sussed it out I had to get the gunpowder from the bullets before entering the Wasp Chamber and then the jacknife didn't disappear and I had the gunpowder for later.
I still don't quite understand the logic here but hey! it works.
