Hi

Does anyone know how to fix this. It's apparently an issue with the DVD version of the game. The person in this thread managed to solve it with an AC3Filter, but my stupid Windows Security thinks it's a virus, and it's not letting me add an Exception either. :-\

I've tried the RSX 3D audio fix and the Virtual Midi Synth, but neither of those have helped.

Thanks

You do need to be careful with AC3Filter, the one website download does look very shady. Not all things are false positives lol. Notably, I know of other software for completely other things that DO have shady versions that add in malicious stuff and many people link to them. You shouldn't just install anything especially today where malicious stuff is everywhere. So, its good that you don't understand how to bypass the block.

From what I understand the DVD version is the default GOG version unless you're referring to the actual DVD on here? A bit different from some games, but really, you shouldn't need anything installed for audio. And there's been a lot of confusion on what is needed, so a lot of false things are floating around from people not narrowing down enough as this game is so fickle, that people get things wrong.

Its likely something easy... but I don't have this issue and don't know what else can work there or what may affect it. You may have something else installed that conficts with it, etc.

Obviously, using a different player might help. So you could try something like deleting the ffdshow.ax file in the game dir, installing ffdshow basic or full and during install select VLC as the player (I don't know if VLC has to be installed first as I always have it installed) and don't install the extra software that you don't need during installation.

But, for all I know, you have something configured or installed wrong with trying to run the game or with your OS audio software or choices there (like forced surround sound can cause quiet audio when its barely in the available channels). You should also check Windows Volume Mixer by right clicking on the sound icon in the system tray when the game is running. There are other things here that people have problems with.

You could even try a different audio device if you have multiple. It may have different results.

Also make sure its good in the game's own settings.

Audio is quite complicated and this is simply low volume which can be anything. Even the BIOS can affect audio for the built in audio device in unexpected ways.
