I couldnt get it to work in Win 8.1.
In Win 7 it seems to work with a Radeon videocard, but I only checked the office at the beginning, so no guarantee...
In Win 8.1 it always crashed in the office, I tried many things, like making a profile in Catalyst without Morph filter etc.
Set the Hardware accelaration off in the game works, but then the graphics are terrible.
I also set the compatibility to win 95, but that doesnt help.

The last thing I tried is remove all AMD with AMDcleanuputility. Then you have basic displaydrivers in Windows.
You are now limited to 1024x768 on the desktop, but the game doesnt crash anymore, as soon as you install Radeon drivers, it crashes, I havent found drivers that dont make it crash yet, but maybe they exist, older drivers.
My card is 5670.
So the Radeon drivers in combination with Windows 8.1 x64 seem to be be the culprit.
On the other computer with Win 7 there is also, a different, Radeon card, 5450
I hope this inspires others to look further into this problem and maybe for some other people this is the resolution to the frustrating problem.

O yes, on Win 8 I see the white mouse pointer blinking, while on Win 7 it doesnt.

Greetz to all adventure lovers, especially Tex Murphy!

Game runs great for me in 8.1x64 with the newest Catalysts (14.4WHQls.) If you are playing the latest Gog version, the DVD version, you need to download and install the latest 64-bit version of FFDSHOW (Bing it) That is likely where the problem is. I don't know why Gog doesn't make this clearer...
I got the video working but the 3D was completely broken, in Tex's office at the beginning of the game, the cabinets and everything were basically invisible.

It's a laptop Nvidia based on-board Intel(R) HD 4600

I re-installed it on my desktop and it works perfectly fine.
