I have adjusted the DEP, put the entire Overseer folder on "trusted files" for my Firewall, and am running it as Administrator. The game locks up my entire computer so I have to unplug it from the wall! After turning off my Firewall, through trial and error, I discovered that the problem is apparently FFSHOW.EXE. I need to grant FFSHOW "trusted" status on my Firewall, but cannot find the folder it is located in? A complete search on my computer comes up empty! Can someone help me with this? Is FFSHOW really needed?

It's FFDSHOW.EXE that you need. An yep--it's mandatory file.

Follow the link in the thread to the newer version of ffdshow and check it out. Download the new ffdshow version, install, and you're done. You don't need to worry about the firewall, and that sort of thing, btw. I'm also assuming that you have the DVD version of the game from Gog--which is the latest version. Edit: I'll go ahead and post the link for you:
