Hi, I just bought Overseer. I'm using WinXP 32-bit SP3, with Creative X-Fi and Nvidia GTX 260.

I noticed that Overseer has MIDI music disabled by default. (Turning it on will provide a constant error message which has been already asked about, so let's not go there.)

What I'm curious about is that do others actually have background music in this GOG release of the game? Does the MIDI soundtrack actually work for someone?

Another thing is that changing the gameplay keys doesn't work. They keep getting reset to default, and changing them "in-game" (not in the initial menu) will crash the game.

(The game generally has trouble remembering settings, same thing happens with the Animated textures option.)

Anyone else have these kind of symptoms?

Thanks!

the midi is switched off by default as the games crashes with it on. the main crash is at gideons gallery & you cannot continue with the midi on.
the error messages " error does not mean error" is something that appeared in xp & later systems.
As far as the settings not being saved in config panel for changed keys I am not aware of this problem as I have always used the mouse movement gadget down the bottom of the screen

I have been fiddling around with the midi in overseer & now have it working without crashes or any errors. expecially at gideons gallery where the main game crash appears with the midi active. I have played past this & everything is okay.

I am running under xp and the trick is microsoft midi mapper. In overseer config panel under the midi devices if you see midi mapper just click on that & everything will work.
however that's the only selection that will work.

under win 7 the midi does not show up or you cannot select a default midi mapper.
