This is probably going to sound really dumb, but I've made it to Alcatraz and I'm totally stuck. When I try to open the panel with the gas mask in the top right corner of the room, it tells me I don't have the right tools. I've obviously missed something somewhere but I can't find any info on what tools I'm supposed to have in any walkthrough. Can somebody just tell me what tool I need and where to get it so I can finally finish this game?

I hope you've managed to get past this bit since November, but if not hopefully the below (culled from an online walkthrough) helps

Walk to the boxes at the bottom left and move them, then pick up the small metal key.
Walk over to the small table and look at the notes here to see instructions for the furnace.
Go to the machine on the top right and open the panel.
Open the box and take the gas mask.
Go to the bottom right and look at the control panel.
Press the switch then immediately start walking left and go through the door while it is still open.

From playing this pretty recently, make sure you haven't changed the cycles in dosbox, and you ned to move really quickly, that door closes very quickly! If you don't get through, then you can press the switch again and keep trying.
