I am on Mars right now, I have collected the facial kit, the inventory in the crate in the power plant and able to gain access to Dick's safe. I found it difficult to go through the lasers (I did manage but I would like it to be easier). After quickly looking through a walkthrough I learned that I should have dug up a box in the jungle to gain info on a person named Jane.
Is there any possible way to get back to Earth?
Does Jane play a major role and can I proceed without knowledge of her?
Or should I just take the items in Dick's safe and proceed from there if possible?

Congratulations, you've discovered the main problem with Martian Memorandum, it's halfway point of no return. Unless you've collected all necessary items and gotten all leads before leaving Earth, the game is unwinnable.

So, yeah. It's now impossible to beat the game. If you have a save from before you left Earth, awesome. If not, you'll have to start the game over.

Yeah, I restarted again and dug up that box that I was meant to. Turns out it kinda was important so you can get info on Alexis (forgot the name)

I finished it in the end though, still a good game but I wish that they wouldn't let you do that, though it also doubles up as a fault of mine for not saving frequently enough.

Playing the game right now, same thing happened to me.

Seriously, the whole game is about trial and error, and that part in the jungle is the worst! And, oh irony, the same jungle part have secretly broken my save too! All because I didn't see some patch of dirt that blends with the floor? What were they thinking?

Also love what the help system says: "use the pair of sunglasses from that guy you've never heard of to see the lasers". Thanks, very helpful.
