I wonder how much work would be needed for a Director's Cut - Humongous Edition. Was it almost done when they decided it was to big or would significant effort be needed? Maybe that'd be a good bridge between now and the next game :-)

A lot was taken out of the final game... that said, most of the cutting room floor stuff did make it through all the stages of compositing. I cannot speak for BFG as a whole, but the stuff did not completely get canned (as in: wiped off the face of the earth), so who knows what the future holds.

It just would be awesome if BFG would release the complete edition at a later time. Now I am busy playing all paths.

Regarding the statement that Tesla would be two Tex Games - I think they said that they first planned a much shorter game containing only the half of the story we have now and even this is only 2/3 of the triulogy they originally planned. The now released game should be more of the length of pandora and I think it is. I agree that the pure adventure puzzles are not very hard and that there are many logic puzzles instead - this may be the reason why someone can complete this game in a few hours if you rush. If you however look at every tiny bit - which I recommend because there is so much in the game Tex Fans can explore and will appreciate - you need quite long. The game should be a story driven experience and not a super hard to beat adventure game. I really love it and there are not many games that I start to play again after finishing them.

I loved the game myself, it really captures the spirit of the classic series. If it seemed a bit short, that's my own fault for playing in 'casual mode' I guess. I'll probably play it again soon, because I didn't get the Chelsee ending, but overall this game was exactly what I was hoping for when I backed the fundraiser. If this turns out to be Tex's last adventure, I'll be quite satisfied.

Even though I have not had time to finish it yet I can not agree that Tesla Effect is letdown. It is the most enjoyable new game I have played in years. Also 17 hours is not short at all by today's standards as a lot of the AAA games clock about 6-8 hours max.

But I do agree on some points. Smart Alex is pointless and could have been left out. Also it is on the easy side even in gamer mode. I think there's too much hand-holding from the game probably to cater for the modern dumb audiences.

The story and the characters are way way above the average of most games out there today.
Otherwise I have no complaints so far as this game is full of awesomeness and BFG has really delivered beyond what I expected.

Most important; it gave me the old Tex Murphy experience. Playtime seemed a little short but is ok. The only minor thing is the issue of finding stuff needed was way to easy and 90% of the time near the item you had to use the found stuff on.
The ending of the game could be longer and way more difficult.

What I actually find funny is that how many reviewers are suggesting to skip the puzzles as they consider them to be too hard. It seems that the collective IQ for mankind is really dropped since the last Tex Murphy game.

yes the fireballs were reduced going up the stairs from 3rd to 4th floor at tesla facility as some players told BFG it was impossible to progress in this part of the game. This wasn't hard once you worked out to run across to each corner until a fireball passed.

It shouldn't be the "last" anything where Tex is concerned...;) "Tex" has still got plenty of "kick" left in him, I don't doubt for one minute. (As I know darn well he's younger than I am...;)) I also think that FMV work in 3d games is a definite shoe-in for a major comeback (what I've seen here is just one example.) At last we don't have to put up with postage-stamp animation or else full-screen quality that looks like it comes from a malfunctioning VHS cassette recorder, circa 1988...;)

The possibilities for Tex are endless, now that Microsoft is no longer sitting on them. When I think of companies buying up IP to just sit on it, I get steamed. Like trademarks, it should be: IP, use it or lose it.
