Have anybody an idea, how to translate Under a Killing Moon?

I tried it a while ago, and found some text in the files chartext.ap and roomtext.ap. Tried to simply change the text to another language, which is working, but only with character limit, which is basically useless. :(

I know, the game is very old, released to dos, so its difficult to find a solution to the problem. If somebody have a good idea, please share it with us! :)

Thanks

Two screenshots added with some translation on. It was only a test, if it is working, or not. (it does, but only with character limit)

I was wondering the same thing, except with Pandora Directive; i've got a retail disc set in portuguese; not sure how they did it though.

Seemingly Pandora Directive uses the same files for the text, just with slightly different name. Quite possible, that if we will have a solution to one, it will work with the other too. :)

You said you got it working, but were having problems with character limit? What do you mean? Does it crash or something after a while?

What i meant, is the typical character limit problem. You have to make sure, that every individual piece of text (at the inventory for example usually one or a few words, or at dialogues usually one or more sentences) will have the same amount of characters as the original (and sometimes even on the same place in the file), otherwise, the texts in some parts of the game will be mixed up, or not shown properly, or the game wont even start. Some cases the game runs fine, just when you check it, the texts are mixed up. And because you have to make sure, you use exactly the same number of characters everywhere, it would be a massive work, not to mention, that its easy to make a mistake, and then its hard to find, where is it wrong. Plus, because the languages are different, in some cases (where there are short texts, like menus, inventory) it would be impossible, to translate it properly, because if the english word was 5 characters long, but the lenght of the translated word is more, it will not works, unless, you can shorten it down somehow. If the english word is longer, it's not a problem, because you just fill up the empty characters with space for an example.
