The game freezes in the sewers, just after I use the tracking device and the chisel to pry the tile loose. Control panel inaccessible, am unable to do anything except move my cursor.
Amazingly, I encountered the exact same nasty bug when I played PD for the first time. That was years ago when Windows XP wasn't around yet and neither was DOSbox. I don't remember if I played PD in DOS and after the bug switched to Windows or the other way round, but I do know I had to start the game all over again.
I have found absolutely nothing on this bug in Google, so any help would be much appreciated. I can't be the only one, can I...?

sometimes this happens when you get too close to the wall.... try it again & stand well back . I find it happens there & also at roswell on the third level
YES, that did it, thanks a lot. :) Would never have figured it out myself.
Alternatively if you find yourself stuck at these particular points (at last count there are three of them), you may also take advantage of the built-in crash recovery feature of Pandora.
Just hold ALT + ENTER to put DOSBox in window mode then close DOSbox to purposedly *crash* Pandora. Next time you start the game it should propose you to restore at the point where the crash happened which should be just after the problem appeared meaning you won't have to redo the whole thing. That's how I solved these problems anyway :)
