These seem like great games, but what's with the ridiculous controls? Not only do I have to move with the mouse and look up/down with the keyboard, but it's based on acceleration rather than velocity?!

How do I set it up so that I can move around with mouse look like in a shooting game? (Yes I already know how to do it in Tesla Effect - it's the only one that has good controls. I can't even figure out how to move in Martian Memorandum!)

This may help:

F10 = slow walking speed
F11 = medium walking speed
F12 = fast walking speed
Thanks, I'll try that. But I still don't see why I can't just use regular FPS controls. That's crazy.
Because the game was made before most of the shooters so they had to make up their own controls.
It takes some getting used to it but one advantage I find with the old mouse control is that it is really easy to make him autorun and you can mostly play it very lazy.
I wish there was a way to change the controls because of ONE location: Tha damned R&D offices. This is where the controls makes the game virtually unplayable. I'm currently stuck in that place (I hope that there isn't a location like this in The Pandora Directive).
Now that there's a new Tex Murphy, maybe they should also remake the old ones. It wouldn't be very difficult - they'd just update the controls and graphics, and keep everything else the same. For the video, I guess they could put it through a filter, but they wouldn't want to re-film it all.
