One of the fan reviews said that the game is very similar to Fallout but I did not like its atmosphere. It seemed too much dark, depressing, a world without hope and so on. And it was constantly so bleak (especially how it looked like).

However when I first saw the screenshots from Under the Killing Moon (before I read that thing about Fallout) it seemed to me that it's not like that - it's more of a game that pokes fun at various clichés and is actually very funny because of that which lightens up the feeling. So how did the first three games feel to you, do they leave you with a bleak feeling like Fallout does?

These games are very tongue-in-cheek and will make you smile, despite the post-WWIII setting. There is some dark humour, though.

I've never played Fallout before, but I finished Myst very recently and personally felt that this was way more depressing than any of the Tex Murphy games (or at least the 3 newer titles in the series - I haven't played 1+2 yet).

Like briandamage said, the games are really funny. And you never feel lonely when playing them because you're constantly interacting with different NPCs. Plus Tex talks to himself a lot and he's super witty. The music also is pretty cool and really lightens up the atmosphere.

Okay, thanks for the input! It looks like a great game to play with someone and enjoy the jokes together.Though I decided I won't get them for now, I have the whole Gabriel Knight series to go, no need to further increase my backlog. That way I can enjoy my purchases even more!

I can see if you look at the box art how the games would come across this way. However as said before, the games have a lot of humor - pandora and overseer actually have multiple endings based on your actions in the game. Once you start playing UAKM, you will know right away the tone is in no way associated with fallout or games of the like.
