I've read various reviews and some of them give this game the watered-down rating because it's "darker" or some odd reason or another, but not me.
Tex Murphy: Overseer again puts you in the shoes of Tex Murphy, burned-out PI.
This game is essentially a remake of Mean Streets, the first Tex Murphy game, on a new 3d engine. The new engine means different controls but once you get used to it, it's actually better in some respects to the old system.
Overseer is different to the prior two of this amazing series, Under a Killing Moon, and Pandora Directive (which I highly recommend! The creators still exist and if you want to see a new Tex Murphy, get buying). This time around, the game is indeed a bit darker, a bit more of a story about Tex trying to save everyone before time runs out.
The game still retains lots of Tex humour and class, however, there seems to be more gameplay, less innuendo, and the cutscenes are again, a little more focused on a deep story, however this game still never fails to surprise at its' amazing ability to tell one heck of a story. The Tex Murphy series are like playing one big movie, and the story of each, including Overseer, will have you glued to your computer chair.
The only unfortunate part is that we're left with a cliffhanger ending but no sequel... not yet anyway. I think we should all wait for Project: Fedora.
So grab yourself some snacks, a good drink, turn the lights off, the sound up, and sit back for one of the most memorable game experiences you will likely have in a while.
