Hey me and my friends are looking forward to create our own server. I dont want to turn my pc into a server so i am going to rent one. Any suggestions? Money is not issue (>$50).

Leasing dedicated hardware certainly will give you the best experience performance wise, typically*.

Certain headaches come along with it however, such as managing the machine remotely and not being access the machine due to technical problems outside of your control.

My suggestions would be to check out shared hosting options as a single Terraria server does not require an entire machine to run and in fact one machine can run multiple instances of the server software. Because of this, renting space on a shared machine is far more inexpensive than leasing out the entire machine to yourself.

Also google around a bit for promo codes, many hosts provide them to popular youtubers and prominent netizens as a way to advertise their services to new customers.


Although that being said, for maximum performance and the most control, a dedicated machine to yourself is the way to go. $50 is the minimum to get you in the door.

yeah, they certainly are.

Gameservers is respectable and their prices are comparable however, most of them are a real crapshoot in what you actually get. many of them are oversold in that you get less performance than what you pay for--as hosts like to have more people on their machines then they can handle while maintaining optimal performance. AKA lag. Lag is going to happen, that's just part of sharing a machine, how much lag you get will decide where to stay and when to go. To this respect you also want a host who can provide a machine close to where you and your players are physically located. If all your players are living on the east coast of the United states, don't choose a host located in Australia.

From the other hand apex seems REALLY too cheap to be true, and vilayer offers ddos in contrast with game servers that are MORE expencive and do NOT !

if you don't upset bad people, they will not DDoS you.

if bad people don't have your IP address they cannot DDoS you.



Be mindful of who you allow access to your server and you will have no issues with DDoS attacks.
