I downloaded the soundtrack of the game, and I'm quite surprised by how good the music sounds compared to what you could get in the game. I'm using general midi with the soundfont "timbres of heaven" and don't get me wrong it sounds really good, but I'm curious if the game actually had a CD soundtrack that can be used while playing.

No, the "soundtrack album" was never a part of the game. The in-game music is/was strictly midi.

(Tangentially, you should check out the band "Tribe" which Greg, Eric, and Terri were all part of. They were awesome.)
