I had installed and was playing ToEE in Windows 7, but recently upgraded to Windows 8. Since then, TOEE doesn't start completely. The screen turns black on launch, and then returns me to the desktop.
I do not have Co8 installed. The machine is Windows 8, i7 920, ATI HD 6870 x 2 (crossfire), 7 GB RAM, 2560x1440 monitor.
The only adjustments I had made to the TOEE.cfg were to set the height and width to 1920x1080. I've since reverted the change, but it hasn't fixed the issue.
I've run the Compatibility Wizard but it didn't successfully find a setting that changed this behavior.
I also reinstalled the older DirectX as recommended in the general tech help on GOG.
Is anyone successfully playing TOEE in Windows 8? Did you have to do anything special to make it work?
