So, using CO8, what are some easy quests for the beginner ?
So far i got killed by 2 Giant Spiders once, by 5 Dire Rats once and by 3 Giant Frogs once.
What i need is a quest or location that is REALLY easy because apparently the game is REALLY difficult.

thanks.
Welkwood Bog is the beginner area added in Co8, and should get you up to level 2. There's also the various fetch quests around town that will get you some experience without having to do any combat. Emridy Meadows has some tougher enemies so you will probably want to hold off on that until you've picked up a few levels. Once you've finished Welkwood Bog and all the quests around Hommlet then you should be ready for the moathouse, and from there you should have built up enough levels to move on to the next sections of the game without too much trouble. Also, stay away from Verbobonc and the Arena of Heroes until you're late in the game, as the quests there are designed for high level characters (Verbobonc in particular was designed as high-level content to be completed by parties already strong enough to clear all of the original ToEE content).
Welkwood Bog ? How can i unlock it ?
Talk to Brother Smyth in Hommlet and ask him about "Something different".
Not working,

Im running ToEE Front End, CO8 is activated. Smyth only shows "show me your wares", "id like to ask a question" and "goodbye".
When using "question", i can only "browse wares" and "healing".

Co8 is working, because i get the new splashcreen and i got the pre-equip event.

Are you using the NC version of Co8? There are multiple versions of the mod available, and only those with NC as part of the name include any of the new content (the other versions are mostly just bug fixes and various tweaks).
If you don't have Welkwood Bog, you can still do the fetch quests in Hommlet, or you can go to Emridy Meadows and kill a few undead.

Just be careful there, or you'll be overwhelmed quickly. And don't go near the ogre or the rainbow rock, those encounters are meant to be done after the Moathouse.

If you have a rogue or ranger good at sneaking you can still take the very good equipment near the ogre though. It'll make your game much easier, and so can the holy longsword + 1 you can get from Filiken at the end of a series of fetch quests in Hommlet.

Anyway, once you hit level 2 you should be able to do the Moathouse without much trouble.
If there's no "about something different" or something like that to ask of Smythe, there's no new content.
In which case I'd just recommend starting over again with the same characters.

There's enough boring stuff to solve in the village to level up once. That or the bog,
Spiders can be won with 1st level characters, if you're real lucky.

Moathouse with level 2 characters. Is still frustrating as hell.
Well, i DID download Co8, but not the NC version. Now i got it, thanks.

Don't be discouraged by the steep early game.

The spiders are a toughie, but once you get to the moat, there's one opponent pretty early on that's just *yaahhgg* level of hard. And then some.

Meadows as well, otherwise doable, but one particular... eww,,, might be best to come back later.

And then there's that one thing and that. Tough spots. But overall, it's getting easier as you progress, not harder.

I've played it through a couple of times and I just do the hommlet stupid fetch & carry quests anyway. A little extra XP early on can really make a difference. As can hiring the helpers.

If you're talking about the ogre at the moathouse, you can bypass it without fighting it if you really have trouble. But with a good party at level 2, you should be able to beat it.

And yes, there are spots in almost every zone (including the areas added by the Co8 mod) that are meant to be done later than the rest.

In the end, if you really have trouble, hire Elmo. He doesn't look like it but he's a lvl 4 fighter with pretty good stats and equipment. He's there to make early levels easier.
