Less than a year ago I bought this and was able to play just fine, without mods, just by double-clicking the icon in the install folder. I have since done a system restore and now, I can't even get it to launch. I know that there are a ton of mods that are recommended, but I just want to play the vanilla version, blemishes and all. Does anyone have a simple solution to just launch the thing? Thanks!

Install the latest Co8 and play via Temple+

Or not. I don't and didn't need it to play. I also consider the CO8 software to be fundamentally broken in some ways.

I'd try to answer the OP's question more reasonably, but I don't use Windows, so I don't know how to fix permissions or compatibility flags, which probably didn't get restored correctly.

OP: I'd recommend re-installing. You won't lose your saves, most likely. The installer will ensure that your flags are set correctly, as well as ensuring that there are no missing library dependencies. Again, I don't use Windows, so I don't know how things work there. I use Wine on Linux.

Yawn. The game is fundamentally broken in pretty much every way imaginable.

Incidentally, so do I.
I even helped to root out a couple of bugs for T+.
