frojas: Anyone tried playing this game on a Mac using VMware Fusion? I wanted to see if anyone has tried it before I buy the game.
Thanks,
FR
FYI, I am currently playing ToEE in Crossover Games (wine) on my Mac Mini and it is working ok.
But, I do have VMWare Fusion so I was curious. I've used it recently to patch and play Planescape Torment.
Unfortunately I have not had very good luck with ToEE in Fusion. My initial attempts in a Windows XP VM the game installed fine and played the movies, but after the last movie would hang at a black screen. A Windows 7 VM fared much better, all the movies played and the game went to the main menu. The problem here was that navigating the menu was REAL slow, do-able, but slow. I picked a character and entered the game, so the game does work. Maybe it is a matter of optimizing it, or allocating more memory? I'm not sure, I was just proving to myself that it would work if necessary. FYI, this was the base gog install without the co8 patch, also all installs were done as Administrator on Windows to avoid any permission based issues.
So, bottom line is that it does work but may need some TLC before it is fully playable.
If you want to try playing the game in Crossover Games, here is the link to the article I used to patch ToEE after it was installed:
