Hey Gydion, thanks for the reply. I realize that but as far as I know it's saying that this is an issue with wineskin and I have the latest download which is actually a program directly for mac, not wineskin.

The macOS version on GOG uses a Wineskin wrapper, for some reason located inside another GOG-specific wrapper. You can find the Wineskin wrapper by choosing "Show Package Contents" for the ToEE app, then look inside Contents->Resources->game. The app there called "Temple of Elemental Evil" is the Wineskin wrapper--you can actually move it out and run it without all the rest if you like.

If the GPU detection issue is what's crashing you game, the fix would be to "Show Package Contents" on the wrapper located as described above, then inside that double click on the "Wineskin" app. Click the "Advanced" button in the window that comes up, then the "Set Screen Options" tab at the bottom, and in the screen options window that comes up uncheck "Auto Detect GPU Info for Direct3D". This may fix our problem.

Best of luck.

It's not wineskin. I've looked in the package, it's a mac program. I know some of GOG's products provide a wineskin wrapper embeded in the download package but this isn't the case.

I just re-downloaded to check and still find a Wineskin wrapper inside the mac app, following the steps in my original post. The only correction is that the wrapper is actually misnamed "Temple of the Elemental Evil."

I downloaded via the link under 'offline backup game installers', which is shown as version 'gog-9'. I don't know whether there is any difference but if you've been using GOG Galaxy maybe the offline version would be worth a try? Best of luck.

I tried exactly this but it still crashes instantly (macOS Monterey, M1)

I haven't installed in recent years but according to the store page the game was never updated to 64-bit, so it won't run on Monterey or other versions of macOS newer than 10.14.

Thanks for the reply! The dog galaxy didn't grey out the install or launch button - I wish got would be a little bit clearer what runs on the system and what not...

EDIT: This was the reply from the gog support:

Unfortunately your operating system is not supported. This game is 32-bit only and will not work on macOS 10.15+.
Do you have access to a different computer that meets the system requirements and that you could use to play the game?

Alternatively, you could try the following workaround: (please be sure to use the Windows .exe installer for this workaround):
