Dex: actually I am doing my level best to get it working right now. It keeps saying that an existing instance of the application is already running, opens a window for a brief half second and then shuts down. I believe the current GoG version is the 2nd patch... right? I hear conflicting reports around the forums and I was unable to find it on the main purchase page for ToEE. Here is hoping the second time is the charm...
Yeah, I'm not entirely clear on which patch version the GOG game is at, but I do believe it's patch 3. However, I didn't do anything to mine and just went ahead and installed the Co8 patch and had no issues. Hope you get it running.

Ditto. And as has been said and resaid, don't put the game in the default program directory. Pick something easy to find like C://games.

I had virtually no bugs (other than the web spell and wishing I'd waited for the 6.0.x mod pack). The ToEE engine really was quite nice after debugging. The graphics still look pretty tight too
