The game is mostly playable, but sometimes the interface bugs out in very weird ways:

Most common bug: The stat symbols (Str, Dex, etc...) don't show except in the small character sheet on the lower left, this is most visible on the character creating screen (all I see is blue empty squares next to the place where I put the numbers) and when looking at how a stat influence a skill (I see a blue empty square with the number of the appropriate stat in the formula).

Second most common: Disappearing spells... sometimes when choosing spells to memorize, the interface bugs out and they disappear completely from the "memorized" list, and as I scroll I see they appearing and disappearing again, seemly only affect clerics...

Third most common: Ok/Cancel buttons in the wrong place: Some dialog boxes work fine, but the text and the ok and cancel buttons appear on the upper left corner, ignoring the background drawing of the dialog box.

Bug I saw only once: The blue marker that shows you can change a screen, over one particular building of the first city map, when visible on the screen (is: if I scrolled away from it, the bug was "fixed") it got so big the entire screen became blue (Yes, very jarring as you can imagine, scrolling around and then a fullscreen blue flash on your face).

Do you have the Co8 mod installed? And is it installed absolutely correctly, with any required patches or add ons?

I followed the instructions, including now closing it when until it said I could...

But it never offered the 8.0.1 patch or any addon (or portraits)

The 8.0.1 patches are here. Go to the bottom post and download the appropriate one (standard OR new content) for your installation.
By the way, I installed 8.0.1 and made sure everything went correctly.

Interface is still buggy as hell (example, if you mess with a priest domain spells, when you go back to its normal spells, the interface is broken)
Having the same problem here. I'm running Win 8.1 64 bit.
Sounds like you might need to install an older version of your NVidia graphics driver. Read the whole post on Co8 installation and troubleshooting guide and [url=http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9956]here

I'm running Windows 7 and the Co8 mod works pretty well, so Windows 8 might be part of the problem.... go figure. But I found if the installation process isn't followed EXACTLY according to the Co8 instructions and there is even a small glitch in the installation process of the mod, that corrupts the game file and EVERYTHING needs to be deleted and re installed.

Things I needed to do to get the 8.0 modpack installed and running correctly:
- Install Java 7
- Deactivate anti-virus software
- Install ToEE somewhere other than the "Program" directory
- change security permissions settings of ToEE game directory to allow "full control"
- Install Co8 mod exactly according to instructions
- run FE-X application as administrator
- within FE-X make sure Co8 modpack 8.0.0 is shown on the list of available modules, and is "activated"
- only access the ToEE game using FE-X

Beside the post I made about the scrolling being jerky...

This particular issue (randomly disappearing parts of the UI) is ALSO a problem with nVidia Optimus, that also happens in SimCity 4

It also happens in Arcanum, but with Arcanum I just put Wine dlls in the game folder, and it worked really nicely :)

I don't tested ToEE (I played the whole game from start to finish bugged anyway, and finished it, cool game).

With SimCity 4 unfortunately the game does nto even launch with Wine dlls :(
