I have installed the Co8 modpack (6.0.0 NC) following the instructions found in these forums. It installed fine. I can start up the game and create characters no problem, and it brings me to the shopmap screen. I can play around in there all that I want without any problems. However, when I click on the symbol to Begin adventuring, and choose the dialogue option to begin adventuring, the game crashes to the desktop.

Any help?

(I am running Win 7)

Do you run the game from the Co8 launcher? If you don't it will crash, though normally immediately after you have selected your party.

When I played, it crashed once after I selected my party, then once after the shop map. It decided to work the third time.

Sorry I can't help you.

Yup. I run the game from the Co* Modpack launcher. TFE-X.exe is the file I think. I had the ToEE file set to run as administrator, under XP SP3 compatibility mode. Does this file have to be set the same way??
Figured it out. I had installed it to the4 D drive, where I put all my games.

ToEE does not like that at all. Once I uninstalled it and placed it on the C drive, it appears to work just fine.

Glad you figured it out - Although I have TOEE and the CO8 modpack loaded on an external USB drive and they are working fine.

So far I do. However, I have forgotten how unforgivingC RPGs back then were. First encounter - 3 jackals. Result, 2 dead, one crippled and unconscious.

Back to the party drawing board.

The Co8 mod has a quest string that makes grabbing the first level less of a pain than previous. I haven't done it myself yet but talk to the blacksmith when you hit Hommlet.

And Ranseurs, glaives and long spears are great for catching attacks of opportunity..saved my party from getting wasted plenty of times in the early game.
