The only CRPG style games I've enjoyed have been the Fallout series and Arcanum. So since this was Troika I thought this would be a great starter to the D&D games which are the pinnacle of the subgenre. I love how you got a party all set up for those of us lost when making characters. Combat is easy and you don't have to know any Dungeons and Dragons stuff to understand things. Great buy and sad that Troika folded since they were a great developer.

Perhaps he hasn't waited on actions that never occur (oops lost that player's attack) or tried to fight in a corridor where two people can just barely fit if you line them up just so... My personal favorite is the 5 step move that doesn't quite put you in range for a melee attack! Would have been nice to have known that before I'd finished that action.

Or maybe his mages never need to escape the reach of 6 enemies all with an attack of opportunity just waiting to happen? Or used a weapon with fire damage and accidentally burned away the web spell which was holding back a horde of enemy?

Oh let me count the ways I screwed up and had to reload! I do agree with the subject line though: Loved the game.
I seriously can't understand most CRPGs because leveling up, balancing stats, and other character building drives me nuts and its what I hate most about RPGs in general. So i love how ToEE makes it simple and even has it done for you if you want.
This game is addicting!!!
Personally it's taken me a little while to get used to. This is my first 'proper' D&D experience, the only other being the excellent if simplified Warriors of the Eternal Sun. Didn't really enjoy it at first but beginning to quite like it. Just about getting the hang of things.

Ah..Warriors of the Eternal Sun; when you leave the castle for the first time and the twangy soundtrack kicks in, then five minutes later stumble upon a beastman camp and somehow manage a victory only to get wiped out by a young racer as you head home...good times.

I swear to this day I found a Dragon once after walking east of the castle for a short while... Was only level 1 and got wiped out fast. Never seen one there again,
