I just bought the game and i want to play the vanilla version without messing up my mind with installing this modpack. Is it patched as it is or is it full of bugs like the version i played from cd 3 years ago?

If gog patched anything, it was to make sure the game runs on vista/win7, the bugs that were there 3 yrs ago are still there.

Get the CO8 modpack, it installs real simple, just takes a long time to do it.
Then start the main game fromm CO8 launcher (not the added content version) and you'll get the bugfixes and nothing extra.

And don't use auto/quicksave or your savegames will get corrupted.

Actually, you can use Quicksave without problems.
