I have tried to play this game a couple of times now, but after an hour or so I prefer to stab myself in the throat. The quests are unbelievably lame. Seriously I am supposed to care about what lame priest gets grain or why shorty can't join the big boys? WTF!?!

I want to play this game. But at the current rate, my next quest will be filing tax forms or arranging a birthday for a 5-year old.

Can somebody tell me what the important quests are in Hommlet? Can I skip it all together? And does the game get better later on?

Haha loving this post :P. I stopped playing for a while because I was too busy getting my ass kicked by skeletons in the fields and yadda yadda. Did you install Co8?
All the fetch quests in Hommlet are a bit of a drag. The primary quest in Hommlet that will get you started on the main quest line is clearing out the moathouse, but you'll want to have at least a level 2 party before taking this on. The Circle of Eight mod also features an alternative, combat based low-level quest to get you from level 1 to 2 so that you can skip over all the fetch quests if you're so inclined.

And once you get past the Hommlet quests the game becomes much more combat focused, so you don't have to worry about having to run peoples' errands for the rest of the game.

This. Can't remember now who gives the Velkwood Bog mission, but it's a real neat addition. Meant to replace all the fedex stuff, not meant as an addition since then you'd have almost too much xp (but not really, since you're terribly underpowered the whole time).

Besides moathouse, which is essential, you get from the temple a ... something something.. field of something.. fetch the amulet by killing loads of undead quest.

Velkwood -> Moathouse -> Field -> off to next town.

The next town is also a bit of fumbling around asking questions doing stuff, but then you have the location of the temple and can start the real massacre.

Do a quest to kill spiders for the lumberjack, get that monk and fighter from the inn to your party and head straight to Moathouse, those quests in Hommlet aren't worth any time.
Depending on how you get the tailor into the militia you might get a nice repeater crossbow (I'm using Co8 mods. Not sure if that makes a difference)
Thank you for your suggestions. I installed the mod from Co8 (7NC) and skipped most of Hommlet. Things are so much better. It reminds me a bit about the good old IWD times:)

Have a merry christmas!
I can't find the NPC that gives the Velkwood Bog mission for the Co8 mod pack.
Can someone tell me who and where?
One other idea might be to just use the cheat console to give everyone 1,000 experience and then just skipping all the quests. (Are there any other rewards, like money, for the quests that one might want to cheat in if skipping them?)
I figured it out. The blacksmith mentions it, then sends you to the most southwest corner house on the map.
