I just installed windows 10 and everything works fine except (and I don't know if this is a problem with windows 10) the cinematics that begin TOEE flash and flicker while they are playing. Has anyone experienced this? Some insight would be really useful about now

I'm having the same issue. Game plays, but with flickering cinamatics like you mentioned.

Same situation and problem

Hope there is a fix or work around.
iirc cinematic flicker has something to do with the resolution native to the game being lower than that set for your (more modern) screen. Try lowering your screen resolution to match that of the game.

This doesn't work... anyone find a solution to the cinematic flicker? I figured it was Nvidia's DSR video option and turned it off, but to no avail.
I'm having the same exact problem. I thought it was due to the CO8 mod (I haven't played the game in a year) and deleted the entire folder and installed vanilla TOEE in a clean directory but I'm still getting the flickering.

To make matters worse, whenever I attempt to change any graphics settings, the game crashes to desktop.

I've found that if you use unsupported resolutions by modifying the game's configuration file, it will crash to desktop. CO8 supports the newer resolutions without crashing, however. I currently run it in 1920 x 1080 with no CTDs.

Even with CO8, the video flashes, so I just quickly press "Esc" to skip past it.

I'm running it in my monitor's native resolution, which is 1920x1080 and it still crashes when trying to switch to it. It didn't do this when I was running Windows 7 or 8 though.

The video flicker or the CTDs? I believe 1920 x 1080 is a supported resolution only with the CO8 mod. If you have the vanilla game, you can modify the game's .CFG file to your resolution. I found that without the CO8 mod, I could only get the resolution up to 1680 x 1050. After that, the game would crash, in Win7 and Win8/8.1.
Can I just add my name to people with this problem. Running with the Co8 mod with ATi R7 video card. Have not tried the un-modded version yet.

I'm not tech minded but I thought it may be a dual card issue so tried with one, same problem. Also the resolution is set to 1080x1024 my monitor's native resolution.

Can skip the cutscenes and play but would rather not. Hope there is a fix in the works, I'll keep fiddling.
