My laptop is one of those new set ups with a basic Intel chip for "regular" use but an actual good dedicated card for when I play a game that needs the juice.

ToEE doesn't seem to be able to recognize the fact that my computer has switched to the better card when I launch it (not listed in the card slot under Options). Does anyone know how to get this to work?

Laptop in question is a HP DV7-6193CA from Costco Canada. Thanks for any help/suggestions provided.

Can you find a widget that'd force the dedicated card on first?
Might be a hack, not provided by HP, but I have a feeling there is one.

Could also be useful in forcing the use of the weaker card when playing
old 3d games that wont require the high end graphics (saves battery).
There is an application where I can designate the toee executable to activate the dedicated card over the Intel chipset, but that doesn't seem to be recognized by the game.

I've now played a few more hours and I must say I don't think that it matters with ToEE... except for not being able to play full screen (the game doesn't seem to support a 17" 16:9 aspect ratio resolution), everything is working fine.

I couldn't get 1980x1200 or anything thereabouts myself, but (by using the settings in Co8 launcher) 1280x720 worked out just fine.

The most I can get with this Intel chipset is 1024x768... which leaves a copule of inches of "dead" space on each side of the screen.

Not fatal but a little annoying... but I'd love the 1280x720 you were able to get. I suspect I'd get it if I could figure out a way to turn off the dynamic switching and just use the better card.
Thanks for this, I had the opposite problem, but this pointed me in the right direction.

My computer was using the integrated card for TOEE, and I didn't know it. I was having graphics problems, and the game would crash right after I chose the party alignment. Checking like above, I found the place where you can set the video card, switched it to the dedicated card, and now it runs like a champ.
