OK, so I'm still in Hommlet and running around doing quests and levelling up a little before the Moathouse quest,

My monies I've collected from selling equipment keeps disappearing! I had 25+ PP, 104GP and shiteloads of silver/copper too yesterday. I reloaded today to continue, and I'm down to 8 PP and a few gold....

WTF?! DUDE!

Seems to happen whenever I have a lot of money, and reload due to member dying to troll or someother OP beastie in Derklo Grove.

Is this normal or a bug, and how do I fix it?!

Running Co8 latest NC beta.
Win7 Ultimate 32-bit.

Don't know for sure, but a very similar thing happened to me when I started playing TOEE for the first time, if you're using the identify spell, it actually deducts the same amount of money a shopkeeper would charge for identifying an item.
I thought the purpose of the Identify spell was it DIDN'T take money for its use?

And this happens when I haven't used it - during battles, when I reload to stop a member dying.

Nope, the purpose is not to go back in town for identifying.
Bags. That's a bummer.

Will have to check that's not the reason tomorrow, but I'm fairly sure it's not...unless it stacks when you don't have enough money............
Have you hired an NPC? I know that they end up taking cash but I'm not sure if its out of your personal bank or if it just reduces the amount of gold that spawns in the world to represent them taking their cut

Unfotrunately the ID spell does take gold in 3rd edition (the '0th' level cantrip Read Magic works on scrolls and potions though so thats a saving) but it could be worse, crafting enchanted items costs you XP, you actually forget your adventures whilst you make a +1 sword... Dunno if that is implemented in TOEE but it was supposed to be that way, one of the more moronic decisions in 3rd edition D&D and I think they dumped it in 3.5
I just discovered the same thing with the identify spell. use the read magic instead, it will identify potions and scrolls.

It identifies potions as well? Daaaaamn. <starts IDing potions so they finally stack instead of taking of all of the inventory space>
Bugger. Seems to have been the case - and it "saves" a tab if you haven't enough when its cast :\

Hence why the feats relating to this are absolutely useless in anything but online multiplayer NWN. I really hated that in NWN. Didn't feel very mage-like, really, not being able to make potions and scrolls without getting stupider.

I just wanted this to be clear, crafting enchanted weapons does cost gold and experience in ToEE. I'm not very familiar with what the rules are in pen and paper 3.5 D&D, so I can't say if the game is sticking to the rules or not in this regard.

I wouldn't say they're useless for ToEE. You get some awesome stuff with Craft Wondrous Items and Craft Magic Arms and Armor.

A sample recipe:
Get those two feats for a good-aligned cleric and mage/sorcerer and then save up XP and gold to make Belt of Giant Strength +6 (I don't remember if this is the exact wording), Gloves of Dexterity +6, and Bracers of Archery/Greater. Put these items on an elven rogue, ranger, or fighter that you got a roll of 18 in dexterity, a roll of at least 12 in strength, and that specializes in archery (you get +2 dexterity for being an elf, base total of 20.) Then, get a masterwork composite long bow (str 18) from the wood shop guy in homlett. Enchant the bow to be +3, holy, and have burst damage (IIRC, your mage/sorcerer has to be level 10 to make burst weapons.) Now, it's time to watch your enemies drop like flies and loot the spoils. A rogue can get extra sneak damage too ; ) I included the Belt of Giant Strength +6 because I figure that someone will want to put their good rolls in other stats besides strength if the archer is a rogue.

But...this doesn't work in NWN o.o

Ehhh, sorry bout that. I thought you were letting your experience with NWN affect how you play Temple of Elemental Evil, since this thread is about ToEE.

No, no, it's fine, I was off-topic-ish. I completely scrubbed my computer of ToEE after Malwarebytes caught it trying to run itself in the middle of the night and I'm currently downloading NWN, so I have NWN on mah brain. :D

I would play NWN only for the multiplayer, ToEE is a far better single player game.
