I played this GOG version about 10 years ago by using a balanced party. And now I have forgotten most of the content, so I think it's a good time to replay it. I'm considering soloing by using a wizard.
Someone suggests using melee weapon glaive, and I also saw such a gameplay video. But to me, I want to choose wizard to enjoy soloing as spellcaster, so I prefer my wizard to mainly use spells rather than melee weapons.
It seems that this GOG version adopted an old mod to fix bugs, remove level cap, add a few spells, ...., and I'm fine with that. I decide to go with this version and am not planning to install other mods.
I have heard that the Dominate Person and the Dominate Monster spells are overpowered in this game, so I won't use them and would only use Charm Person and Charm Monster.
If I'm soloing other D&D games, I don't mind using a crossbow to add a few attacks when my summoned monster is tanking enemies. And in rare situations, I'm even fine to cast close-combat buffs together with Tenser's Transformation on myself and confront a spell-immune boss by using a sword. But I need to know the exact arcane spell list of this GOG version to see if soloing as a spellcasting wizard is really viable even in rare situations like the aforementioned one. So is there a complete arcane spell list of this GOG version?
Besides, I'm would appreciate to learn any other advice for a solo wizard. For example, is the Toughness and the Improved Initiative feats worth taking? And since I would be likely to summon monsters often, is taking the Augment Summoning feat worthwhile?
