So does anyone know if they did any bug fixing?

The original release of ToEE was plagued with bugs left and right (including game stopping save corruption and more), then they patched it and it was different but not necessarily better. I'd hate to buy it only to find that all the same problems exist.

Thanks.
The Circle of Eight modpack has a ton of bug fixes in it. As well as a bunch of other things to improve the game

gog version comes patched and working fine for me. had bugs in co8 modpack and dumped that.

Gog's version don't have the tons of bug fixes from co8 and no additional content. You should try with the latest co8.
Playing the vanilla game makes no sense to me ...
From what I could tell, any fixes in the GOG version are all just from patches you could get here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/ToEE/index_misc.php

It includes the fanmade unofficial patch on that page, which should be superseded by the Co8 work. Maybe GOG threw something else in as well, but I doubt it. In fact, you ought to revert to Atari patch 2 before you install the Co8 modpack - even though people are saying it works with Atari patch 3 (GOG's patch level). A workaround to install the Atari patch is here: http://www.co8.org/forum/showpost.php?p=13774&postcount=7

Moebius's temple.dll is a good patch but superceeded by co8 and yes you need to reinstall patch 2 if patch 3 is installed.

But in any case GOG should mention witch patches are applied on their release, so it is easier for everybody ...
before I buy this questionable game I would like to know how to delete and reinstall the proper patches and co8. I'd rather not screw it up.

You don't have to delete anything. The latest version of CO8 (7.5.0) will install (and work) just fine over top of GoG's patch 3 game..
The GOG game has many bugs. The one that bugs me the most (heh, get it?) is the one where a character using the unique sword Fenerach (sp?) repostes an attack, and this uses up all of his action bar.....but the game wont move on to the next character. The game basically freezes and you can't progress. Nice huh? There are many other bugs that aren't really worth mentioning. Things like items selling for incorrect amounts, pets/charmed critters not engaging, etc. And what's with putting magic weapon creation feats in the game where there are so few requisite materials? ie: master work or magical weapons that you can modify? Would it kill them to put a master work longspear or morning star in the game?
Answer is simple - use latest Co8 NC with Temple Plus - gameplay becomes so much better! And you shouldn't encounter Scather (answering sword) bug anymore. You should check here:
