After I acquired Wonnilon's Repeating Crossbow from hill giant Scorpp, I went to Hommlet to sell my loot. But I forgot the crossbow is a quest item and accidentally sold it in Hommlet.

And after I realized that and went back to Hommlet in order to buy it back, I could not see it in the buy/sell window anymore. What can I do?

My previous saves from which I still have the crossbow had all been deleted by myself.

I don't think it is that big of a deal. Wonilon's primary function in the game afaik is to offer a safe resting place inside the Temple, which he still does even without returning his crossbow. Iirc, the main benefit of giving him the bow is he then becomes a hirable NPC. But he is a (by that point in your quest) fairly mediocre Fighter3/Rogue3 S15 D15 C15 I12 W12 Ch15 so you likely wouldn't bother anyways, unless you needed some extra thieving skills.

SPOILER ALERT:
Get Scorpp to join your party instead (when fighting him, he will offer to surrender if his HP is low enough) for an UBER-strong NPC Fighter tank. Most non-evil NPCs will refuse to talk to you with Scorpp in your party, though, so it reduces a lot of dialogue options in town. And he doesn't appreciate being dismissed from the party!

Thanks. I want to recover the crossbow mainly because of roleplaying reason and also getting the quest completed. Is there a modification code which can add the crossbow back to the shop's item list so that I can buy it back?
