Stuck in training with the bird ontop of the post... Last thing I done was getting the mug full of mud... What next? what do I use with the bird?

GOD, this puzzle took me forever on my first playthrough. Since the guard is distracted with the kaliedoscope, steal the grenade off his belt, combine it with the rope from the trash can, and use it on the captain's desk drawer to get the medication. Use it to drug the breadcrumbs from the cantina and feed them to the bird.
