So glad Monkey Island is on here, and what a great sale price. I loved the old monkey Island games in the 90s, but havn't played ANY games on the computer since until now. I am glad I decided to get back into these games as there are so many that I didn't know about. Since I started playing again recently I have only played Secret of Monkey Island, and the Beneath a Steel Blue Sky on here because it was free. I loved both games.

I just started the Longest Journey which I got on here since it seems like everyone i told I am just getting into these types of games now said I need to play Longest Journey.

I am always looking for new recomendations for similar types of games as since I am new, i havn't played any of them yet besides Monkey Island, Beneath a Steel Blue Sky, and as mentioned just started Longest Journey, so let me know anything else you think I should check out. thanks!
The genre of games you are referring to are called "Point-and-Click Adventure Games", aka just "Adventure Games". I LOVE this genre, and GOG has nearly every great example of the genre already in its catalogue (Lucasarts notwithstanding). Here's a few of my personal favorites you should definitely check out:

-Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, from the same people who made Beneath a Steel Sky, and my personal favorite game in the genre.
-Gabriel Knight: The SIns of the Fathers, excellent story and nearly completely devoid of the random deaths and moon-logic puzzles Sierra is infamous for.
-Machinarium, an amazing atmosphere and story containing no dialogue, similar to Pixar's WALL-E
-The Blackwell series, while a fairly recent indie release, the story and character development throughout this series is simply beautiful.

I put Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight, and Blackwell on my wishlist. Machinarium doesn't really look like my thing, but maybe I can give it a shot once I play some of these others. Right now I am still on the first chapter of the longest journey so it may be a while.

Thanks!
