Does this version properly support controllers?

I own these games on Steam but haven't gotten around to really play them because the keyboard+mouse controls are beyond clunky in the 3D environment.
I have played the demo of part 1 on PS3 and think that the controller is a much better input device. Unfortunately there is no support for controllers in the Steam version. I just don't understand why a game that is available on consoles does not offer an internal controller support. Yes, there are 3rd party programs to map controller input to keyboard keys but that is a very ugly solution.

Besides from German Subtitles(or other foreign languages), this game does not have full controller support...

You can move around using the controller, but you are not able to control the pointer(this can be achieved with xpadder and programs like this - but you know that already and yes it is clunky).

As far as im aware there isnt a controller support. But it's drag your mouse and click... it's not much of a challenge... or is it?! :P

I'll never understand how people find point and clicks awkward. A friend of mine hates the original 2 because he cant control it with an analogue stick. Damn weird.

Anyway about controllers, you might be able to program it in with one of those xpadder programs. Iv never used one myself but it's suppose to be good.

I don't find point and click awkward. Quite the opposite. I adore the original LucasArts Games. My problem with Tales lies in the 3D environment and the invisible borders around the "walkable" areas which make navigation by clicks very hit-and-miss in most situations. The alternative is keyboard input. Unfortunately the arrow keys offer only a very limited navigability of 4 directions whereas an analogue stick gives way more freedom in that regard.
And programs like Joy2Key and xPadder can't really replicate analogue because they only translate to keyboard input.

Anyway, seems there still is no built-in support (and most likely never will). Thanks for the replies.
