There is a Wine Wrapper for this game but will the GOG version run under this does anybody know ?

NewDark patched (GOG) SS2 runs without a hitch under linux/wine.

If you get choppy sound, you may want to disable OpenAL hardware acceleration in the game audio settings menu. It should not have any impact on performance.

I can confirm this. I made a wineskin package for SS2 with the NewDark patch and a variety of high-def mods. They work beautifully in OS X.

I'm not sure if one is included with the GOG version, but it's a simple thing to do yourself.
