One of my minor nitpicks with the remake is the text is too small, and I have some trouble reading messages over the transparent background, especially in brightly lit rooms. Is there no way to either resize the text or make the UI backgrounds fully opaque? That should really be an option in accessibility. The "HUD OPACITY" setting only affects always-on-screen elements: hotbar, minimap, and health status. There should be something for the tab menus too.
I am having a hard time with the opacity setting too (I couldn't even figure out what it affected).

However, I was able to make the text a lot more readable by using the "UI No Chromatic Aberration" mod found on the Nexus. The rainbow shimmer around objects and text really made it tough on my eyes and there wasn't a setting the disable the damn thing.

This doesn't help with your background problem but it makes the text outline clearer, so it may help you too.

(Seriously whoever keeps forcing CA into games need to be slapped repeatedly until they stop).

That is helpful. Thank you both!
