On level 2 in the north east area there is a surgery machine, but when I try and use it I get a message that it's broken. Is it possible to repair it?

Right next to it there is a corridor that's blocked by a red force field. How is it possible to go there?

As a side note, what does disabling robot maintanance (next to the reactors) do? The bots seem to attack anyway after it's disabled.

Alright here goes :
- The machine can't be repaired :p if it bothers you try blowing it up with nitro...
- Inside the force field are some of shodan's little pets that you will meet in the future. he he
- If you disable the Maint room before destroying shodan's computers in the level, will decrease the amount of robots attacking you once you do it.

I suggest going in to the hint book included with the game, the first section gives you general hints that are greatly useful and don't spoil the experience :)
