I have the GOG version of SS2 and I've used the latest version of SS2Tool with a few mods.
Whenever I try to play System Shock 2 for the first time after turning my computer on (or restarting), it doesn't launch.
"Shock2.exe" appears in task manager, but it never starts. Then, if I try to run it again, it will launch (and everything thing seems to work fine, mods and all). However, now I'll have two "Shock2.exe" processes running, and the first one will keep running unless I manually kill it.
Any idea what's going on here?
Edit: After doing a little research, I found another user with this problem and it seems that renaming the exe from "Shock2.exe" to something else (like "ss2.exe") has fixed the problem. Something about Windows recognizing an old game and trying to do something, so you rename the exe so it doesn't recognize it. I have no idea what's going on, but it fixed the problem.
If anyone knows perhaps a better way to fix this problem without renaming the exe, I'd like to hear it..
