After all this years of waiting (an a few demos) at least it is here.
Alas! On start, there is a splash screen "System Shock" and then black screen. Void. Nothing.
No sound.
Alt-F4 doesn't work.
The Task Manager is telling me that the game does not responding.
Tried reinstalling from Galaxy and from offline files, tried verifying files, also checked for updates.
Nothing helps.

Any ideas?

(Demos worked fine)
I don't get that issue - AMD 5800X3D / 6900 XT with everything maxed our @4K here - except GPU temperatures all is running smoothly.

Try running the game in compatibility mode maybe.

Try disabliing "Gaming Mode" in WIndows - some games can be incompatible...

Other than that I accepted internet connection from the game right away but maybe the game needs internet access the first time to work - that might be the issue if you are under a firewall.

Hope this helps!
Unfortunately none of that helped.

Fortunately I was not the only one, and there is a solution on Reddit:
run the game with "--Ngxdisable" option.

And voila! It works, so I can return to Citadel.

OK, this did work for me, with an exception. The option worked with only 1 dash in front instead of 2 (i.e., -Ngxdisable).

You have to edit the shortcut target. Add -Ngxdisable after the program but outside any quotes.

e.g., "C:\Program Files\System Shock\Systemshock.exe" -Ngxdisable

OK, doesn't work for me, but thanks for the answer
I am having the same Black Screen on Launch problem. My attempts to use the -Ngxdisable modification to the launch shortcut have not changed the black screen problem, though I am not certain that I am applying the -Ngxdisable modification correctly. Any additional insights?

Problem solved. I had to figure out which shortcut (among a few different ones) to modify:

"C:\GOG Games\System Shock Remake\SystemShock.exe" -Ngxdisable

However, I must select this file to launch wihtout errors. Launching with GOG Galaxy still results in the frozen black screen.

Did you make sure to tell Galaxy to launch with the command arguments?
You might, in Manage, have to make an alt shortcut with the argulments, that's how I run KoF XIII with the framerate cap command line.
